The Copperhouse

The Copperhouse a Grade II listed building constructed around 1780 as an administrative building for the Gwennap Copper Mines.

It features a huge iron clad Strongroom and it is said that the World Copper Price was set from here each morning. Now granted Mining World Heritage status, the parish of Gwennap was once said to be "the richest couple of square miles in the world. With the decline of Mining in the mid to late 1800,s The Copperhouse reverted to a country house Originally part of the Burncoose Landed Estate with the Chelsea award winning Nurseries adjacent. It now stands in its own secluded grounds surrounded by many species of Camelias and Rhodedendrons
